Sustainable agricultural production and agroecology

This line encompasses various aspects aimed at achieving sustainable agricultural production in a climate change context. Given climate change’s impact on agricultural systems, its extent requires analysis and the introduction of knowledge-based adaptation measures for the Mediterranean region. This research area includes different aspects focused on attaining sustainable agricultural production in a scenario of climate change. A second approach is analysing different crop handling techniques to reduce or mitigate the effects of climate change and contribute to crop sustainability. The latest projects have looked into more innovative approaches, such as crop genetic editing and the study of beneficial plant-microorganism associations and how these may support plant tolerance to abiotic stress, improve soil health and promote agroecosystems sustainability.
