The main aim of this research area is to understand how photosynthetic organisms develop adaptations in photosynthesis and respiration as a response to changes in environmental conditions (temperature, light, CO2, water availability and nutrients, etc.).
Therefore, the research group looks into approaches at different precision levels, from ecosystems to molecules. It undertakes large-scale surveys through expeditions to remote locations, as well as specific lab studies with isolated molecules. Greater knowledge in this field is essential to improving productivity and maintaining biodiversity in a scenario of global change.
